At this time, generic Imitrex is available in four strengths. The generic versions are only available in tablet and injection form — it is unknown when a generic form of Imitrex nasal spray will be available.
Generic Imitrex: An Overview
Imitrex® (sumatriptan succinate) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat migraine headaches. It is part of a group of migraine medications known as 5-HT agonists (or more commonly called “triptans”).
Imitrex is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Generic versions of Imitrex tablets and injection are currently available. Generic Imitrex nasal spray is not yet available, and it is not clear when a generic version may be available.
Generic Imitrex is available in the following strengths and forms:
- Sumatriptan succinate 25 mg tablets
- Sumatriptan succinate 50 mg tablets
- Sumatriptan succinate 100 mg tablets
- Sumatriptan succinate 6 mg per 0.5 mL injection.
Generic Imitrex is made by a few different manufacturers, such as:
- Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
- Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
- Sandoz
- Teva Pharmaceuticals
